陳効謙 Lawrence Chan
Lawrence Chan is an experienced Wine Educator. He is passionate about wine and pursuing a career in wine industry. Before becoming an wine educator in 2018, he was a wine consultant for a wine importer in Hong Kong while teaching as a part-time wine educator.
With excellent language skills, fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, he has delivered courses, particularly the WSET’s Wine qualification in both Hong Kong and China.
Since then, he obtained numerous qualifications during his years in teaching, such as the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wine and Spirits and Level 3 Award in Spirits, Australian Wine Discovered, Barossa Wine School, Rioja Wine Education Programme, etc. In 2021, he became a certified WSET Level 3 in Wines and Level 2 in Spirits educator certification. He is also a Whisky Ambassador.
Lawrence has travelled to some of the world’s major wine regions such as Champagne, Alsace, Barossa, Barolo and Barbaresco, where he met and shared lots of experience with local wine professionals. He is keen to visiting more wine regions in future so he could share more first-hand experience and up-to-date knowledge with his student.

HKUST Alumni Wine Association (HKUSTAWA) was founded by a group of wine enthusiasts in October 2016. Our vision is to promote wine culture and responsible drinking among alumni and current students.
Since our inauguration, we have connected 300+ alumni over glasses of wines through our workshops and gatherings. Different styles of events have brought our members and friends fun time, thus created a HKUST's wine community for wine knowledge exchange or simply enjoyment with wine buddies.
We strive to bring members more benefits, from discounts on wines & spirits purchases, special offers at restaurants & bars, to promotional offers on wine events in town. The more wines you taste, the more you learn.
